Musharraf, who was born in todays India, moved with his family after the division of India in the western part of the country, which builds the todays Pakistan. After his education in Turkey, where he lived until 1956, he moved back to Pakistan, chose a military career an visited from 1961 the military academy in Kakul and the Royal College of Defence Studies in the United Kingdom. Furthemore he was educated in Ankara and learned learned Turkish there. He fought in two wars against India and reached the rank of the first general. At the 28 November 2007 he handed the office of the army chief and the supreme comment about to forces to Ashfaq Parvez Kayani. He announced his resignation at the 18 August 2008, but he plans to compete with a newly founded party in the elections in his home country 2013.
