-Reggae music-

Reggae is a music form coming from Jamaica. Reggae originates in the 60s in the island state, particularly from the existing music traditions, from the Ska and the Rocksteady – a heat period is not quite unconcerned supposedly in it which forces the musicians to play slower, or more carefully. In Jamaica was already a rather active, independent music industry which distinguishes itself by the fact that new developments are tested directly on the street, in a sort of street disco.

Still today known interpreters are Desmond Dekker and Lee "Scratch" Perry. At the beginning 70th follows the group The Wailers, with Bob Marley, Bunny Wailer and Peter Tosh, the most important formation till this day of the reggae.


In the first years after the independence of England (1962) originated, reggae is an expression just of this independence, born from the ruins of colonial immovables, in the poverty (resulted by European exploitation).

Reggae is an address which turns unusual for Europeans, not to Europe but against European, all taking in and the culture and to themselves direct against Africa where (just in and around Senegal and in East African Ethiopia, but also in South Africa) big reggae scenes develop.
