1) Name at least 7 countries which have English as their first or second offical language?
2) There are different reasons why is English is so widespread: Political reasons (globalisation), historical reasons (colonialism), linguistic reasons (reasons related to the language itself).. Choose one of these different reasons and have a closer look on them! Present your results in class and in the blog! You can work in groups of maximum 4 students!
3) Next week we will concentrate on one of these countries... With which country we shall start our "world tour"?
1) USA, Great Britain, Canada, Australia, Ireland, South Africa, New Zealand
ReplyDelete2) In the years 1600 until 1950 Great Britain had been a rich country according to it's powerfull economy. It had the money to build expensive ships without a widespreading wouldn't have happened. With the ships they were one of the most important explorer countries all over the world, starting to explorer large parts especially in the north of america and australia. Later they invaded other countries in Africa and Asia. With the explorers also the language was carried around the world. Lots of settlers were sent to America to colonize the place, the same with Australia. The new inhabitants stayed sticked to their old culture and didn't stop to use their language. So English was carried around the world and because of it's easiness to learn it the invaded countries had people who learned and later used the language. Today still a few islands are part of the United Kingdom and Hongkong next to China is an island where the english has an important influence which involves the population still today with the United Kingdom.

1.) English-speaking countries are for example:
ReplyDeleteAustralia, USA, Canada, New Zealand, South Africa, Great Britain, India.
2.) English is such an important and widespread language, because people need to understand and communicate with each other. Politics couldn't work without communicating, so there wouldn't be any cooperation, any workers for peace, like the UNO. They just couldn't talk so there would be no way to work together.
Backwards there had been a cruel kind of colonialism, countries fought for better economic systems, they wanted to have more size, they got other colonies from countries after winning a war against them. It had been a bloody past. So came like in Australia, english-speaking people come over to their land, fighting against the aboriginal people, bringing in their language.
3.) AUSTRALIA! It's such a multifaceted country, they've a beautiful accent, so we could watch interesting videos, trying to understand what they say, learning that they've the same english language but some different words.
They've one of the most awesome landscape, interesting kinds of animals and so on.
The historical background, the specific kind of games or like they're celebrated (footy) is also interesting! Some people of our course have also contact with australian people, so if we've any questions, we could ask.

ReplyDelete2) Great Britain had a big influence to the world and had a big military. That's why they have occupy many countries all over the world, like the USA, Australia, India, many states in africa and many countries more. In many countries all over the world the queen is the head of state, because they are in the commonwealth of nations, a confederation of states, which have english as their first language. Because of this reasons, english is the first language of lots of countries. For example, the bratains capture the USA or India and this is the reason that the main language in the USA or India is english.
3) We think, we should start with the USA or Great Britain, because these countries are the countries with the most influence on other countries. And these countries are typical english!

2)English is a important language.
We have to need a language that we all could understand.
Without a language, that we all understand,we cant work with the world together and we cant communicate with people from around the world.
Furthermore english is easy to learn and easy to understand.

2)LINGUISTIC REASONS:
English is an easy language!
- it has no articles, just one in contrast with German.
- it´s not so complicated like the other languages for example Asian languages.
- It´s written in Arabic letters like French and German.
- it´s not written with some accents.
- you write the most namewords at the beginning in small letters
- there aren´t cases like Dativ, Akkusativ...
3) I think if Great-Britain didn´t exist then we would never have learned the English language.

2)Today the language English is very important for days. One understands by globalisation the process of the increasing international interweaving in all areas as for example economy, politics, culture, environment, communication. The world becomes smaller. Many things one finds in Germany, one finds, in addition, also in other countries.

2. English is a very simply learning language. It is not so complicated as most other languages:
-> English belongs to the Germanic linguistic group, decreases as much as possible in language of our forefathers.
-> There are no cases in English
-> up to few exceptions there is no declension.
-> English exists in his basic grammar of few words. This makes it as a language incredibly in the world to learn it easily.
-> There is only one indefinite article into English.
-> There is only one definite article into English.
-> adjectives never change.
-> with the basic grammar and a basic vocabulary one gets by to the notification.
Of course one must also learn for English a lot. But the language is unambiguously lighter to learn than all the other languages.
3. We think that we should deal the next hour with Australia, because there are a lot of unusual things which you can find out from Australia and didn't know before.
Australia is a very nice country with a nice scenery and culture. We think that it is a very extensive subject, but very interesting, too. Because the accent is the Australian also very much pleasant, you can understand them very well and communicate with them. We agree to Sarah that it could become a great subject.
