Dublin is at the east coast of the island Ireland next to the river Liffey and the sea Dublin Bay. 500.000 people are living in this city today. The region of Dublin includes some suburbs and some rural regions. In this region are living 1,2 million people. The river Liffey divides Dublin in a poor northern part and a more wealthy south part. But these subdivison isn't so obvious today like in older times. In the downtown are many bridges and the three most known streets O'Connell Street, Grafton Street and the Harcourt Street. In these streets are the most shops, the Trinity College with it's famous library and the park St. Stephen's Green. A new symbol of the city is the Spire, which was built by the british architect Ian Ritchie in 2003. It's a 120 meter high stainless steel column and stands in the O'Connell Street.

In Dublin is the seat of the Irish government. The official residence of the Irish president is Aras an Uachtarain, a building, which is in the Phönix park.
The Four Courts, which is the most important courthouse of Ireland is in Dublin.
Furthermore Dublin is the seat of a catholic and an anglican archbishop.
Dublin has developed culturally in the last years, beacuse of the better economic. Many tourists go every year to Dublin, because it's a beautiful city with many seesights, monuments, beautiful churches, theaters, museums and wonderful parks. Dublin has also a district called Temple Bar, which is very popular, because the nightlife is very funny there. There are many night clubs, popular bars and restaurantes.
