The Taliban are a radical islamistic group, which operate in Afghanistan and Pakistan. The most members of the Taliban are pupils of the traditional Islamistic schools (Madrasa). 1994 The Taliban were formed out of resistance fighters against the Soviet crew in Afghanistan in a civil war. After the war against the Soviets, the Taliban controlled the most of Afghanistan and had a big influence in Pakistan, too. In Afghanistan the Taliban enforced their islamistic aims and rules. Under their government, women were suppressed and human rights abuse happened. Leader is Mohammed Omar, who is called the "leader of the believers" since 1996. They cooperate with Al-Quaida and Osama bin Laden, that's why western countries like the USA search for members of the Taliban as terrorists. 2001, after 9/11, troops of the USA marched in Afghanistan and finished the government of the Taliban. Since 2003 they attacked the civil population and hindered the new buildup of the goverment in Afghanistan.

Now, the Taliban are responsible for 76% of the deaths of the civil population in Afghanistan. The new government of Afghanistan fight against Taliban terrorists, but the most citizens of Pakistan support the Taliban.

  1. Nice and especially short overview about an incredible important topic.
Maybe something important like that should have been written with more words but all in all, it's pretty good.

  2. Thank you for this overview about the Taliban. I totally agree with Sarah. Your text is nice but you two worked together so I except a bit more. Also the topic is well-known, so you could get information from many sources...
