- Koala -
The koala is a tree-inhabiting bag mammal in Australia. It was discovered in 1817 by Georg August Goldfuss and is the farthest widespread symbol of Australia beside the Kangaroo. Every koala is a nocturnal animal. They become up to 85 cm and can weigh to 14 kg. They can be recognised in a preceding nose which is very sensitive, her big ears and a big head with low cerebral mass. Moreover, they have a brownish-silver-grey fur in which water can roll off and a grab hand with claws which is suitable for the climbing and exists of two thumbs and three fingers. The feet have no claws.
The smelling and hearing play a very big role in their lifes, with it they perceive the surroundings and her eyes are rather bad. They were spread in Australia very much, but then they were hunted and were thereby exterminated in many areas. They are available on the Australian east coast in queen's country, New South Wales and Victoria. The whole population is about 45,000 to 80,000 animals.
Of course the koala also have enemies , these are: Dingos, big owls, eagles, Warane and pythons. Koala bear are loners and found her own district. They live on sheets, bark and on certain eucalyptus kinds. I think they are very interesting animals.
