Montreal is a town in Canada. It's the second biggest town in Canada and the biggest town in Quebec. Montreal is well known for the Olympiastadium. Between Montreal and the Atlantik is a distance about 450km. In Montreal about 1.6 million people are living. In greater Monteral about 3,7 million people are living. Greater Montreal is the 16th biggest metropolitan area in Northamerika. Montreal is the headquarters of the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO).

The name Monteral is derived from the "Mount Royal", which is 233m high and in the city centre. Montreal got it's city rights in 1832. The city's growth was aided by the opening of the Lachine Canal, which made the impassable waters of Lachine Rapids south of the island ​​navigable. 1844 till 1849 Montreal was the capitol of the british colony "United Province of Canada". In 1861 till the Great Depression in 1930 the town had a heyday because two railway companies built their headquarter there and the Royal Bank of Canada too. The railway companies were the Candian Pacific Railway and the Canadian National Railway.

Today Monteral is well known for its Olympiastadium, the Mount Royal and the old town including the harbour.

Also Monteral has got a Formula 1 racetrack. The racetrack is known at the Formula 1 fans as the Kubica track, in general it's called Gille Villeneuve track, because Robert Kubica had a very bad crash in 2008 on this track during the Formula 1 race. He spinned several times. The whole car was destroyed but not the Cockpit. Kubica only had a contusion at his left feet.

In the end I have to say that Monteral is a very nice and big town with many sights and interesting districts. Also the Mount Royal is a very great sight and you can almost see the whole town from there.
