West Edmonton Mall


The West Edminton Mall, in Edmonton, Canada, was 23 years long the biggest mall in the world. Today, it is with 350,000 m² sales area and 492,000m² totally the sixth-biggest mall in the world. It is the biggest mall with other possible activities in the world. The mall was built from 1981 to 1998, it cost ~ 1,2 billion Canadian Dollars. There are 800 shops in the mall and the mall is famous for its other features, like 26 cinemas, including an IMAX-3D-cinema, a themepark, the Galaxy Amusement Park, with rollercoasters and 27 thrill rides, one of the rollercoasters has 3 loopings. With 37,000 m², it is the biggest indoor themepark in the world. On the rollercoaster with 3 loopings - the Mindbender - happened in 1986 a heavy accident. 3 people died, 2 people broke some bones. After a few building conversions, the rollercoaster rides again. In the West Edminton Mall also stands a huge water park, an Ice hockey field, the highest indoor bungee-tower, a synthetic lake, the Deep Sea Adventure, and an aquarium. There are 110 restaurants. In the huge water park, the World Waterpark, are 17 water slides, the tallest is 42 metres high and 50 kilometres per hour fast. The World Waterpark is the biggest Indoorbath in North America.

2 million people visit the West Edmonton Mall every year, these people can park on the biggest parking place in the world, with 23.000 parking places.
